Biceps tendinosis

Chronic pain at the front soft part of your elbow is almost always due to tendinosis of your elbow bending muscles (biceps), where it inserts into your forearm bone, distal biceps tendinosis.

Usually overloading these muscles results in pain at the front of the shoulder so pain is often experienced from the shoulder down the front of the arm to the elbow. It can cause symptoms and impairment with bending your elbow (flexion) and/or when turning your wrist palm up (supination).

Tearing of this muscle, which is often complete, can occur with no prior warning, leaving a bulge in the upper part of the arm created by the recoiled, shortened biceps muscle. Pain is severe at first, but usually eases within a week or two.

Biceps tendinosis can be caused by strain from a sudden increasein the amount or intensity of biceps activity or from repetitive elbow bending or wrist rotation, turning your palm up, (supination), for example, when using a screwdriver.
