Dupuytren's contracture

Dupuytren's contracture starts off as hard knots or lumps of connective tissue forming in the tendons of your palm. These knots build up over a period of months or years to become bands of shortened thick tissue, called contracture that pull the involved fingers in toward your palm creating a hand deformity.

Eventually it can become impossible to fully straighten your fingers. The hand deformity makes it difficult to grasp large objects, open jars or doors or combing your hair.
