Joint capsule

Many of your joints are entirely enclosed by a tough outer layer of collagen and an inner lining which produces fluid, called a joint capsule. The capsule contains your joint fluid (synovial fluid), which helps lubricate and nourish your joint surface, as well as further helping to reduce joint compression.
